Growth performance evaluation of Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon L. Pers. x Cynodon transvaalensis) under different nitrogen application methods and sprigging intensities

Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers, commonly called Bermuda grass is one among the most used warm season grasses which can withstand drought stress and produce quality turf. Establishing high turf a key management concern. The selection of suitable method its establishment precise nutrient are first important factors for well-established lawn. N has greatest impact on growth all nutrients, an appropriate fertiliser quicken up development high-quality mats. Hence field trial was conducted at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore to study response 4 different sprigging intensities: S1- 10×10 cm, S2- 15×15 S3- 20×20 S4- 25×25 cm 3 methods application fortnight intervals: N1- Granular 4g/m2, N2- 2% Foliar spray N3- IFFCO Nano Urea 5ml/l water. Morphological parameters including leaf length, internodal shoot root percent cover physiological total chlorophyll content, relative greenness proline content estimation have been evaluated 90 days after planting. Plots treated with nano urea showed improved rather plots granular urea. Closer medium spacing quick spread compared wider spacing. Among 12 treatments, Treatment S1N3 (10 X 10 5 ml/ l water Spray) recorded highest values almost morphological (Leaf length 3.43 Internodal 3.63 Shoot 52.46 Root 11.51 Percent 101.25%) (TCC 3.42 mg/ g fresh wt., Relative 13.86 Proline 2.52 wt.). Future thrust be relied such encapsulated slow-release fertilizer ease out nitrogen loss concern quality.
